Winter Bull Run – 30th October 2011
Entry Form
Held in the autumn and unlike the family-orientated Spring Run this is aimed primarily at the more serious runner. It is a very useful preparation for the famous Sodbury Slog traditionally held a few weeks later.
The 6 mile (9.7 km) run is mainly off-road and, commencing at Horton Village Hall, is initially cross-country to Horton Church. The course then briefly reverts back to road, ascending a hill that, at the top, sends runners off-road again following a steep climb to the brow of the Cotswold escarpment. More of this challenging terrain follows before runners find the ‘yellow brick road’ (a section of the old Gloucester-Bath Road) that cuts along the top of the escarpment to the safety of Pond Hill at Hawkesbury Upton. From here it is not quite downhill all the way but you traverse back to HQ and a pint or a bacon sandwich.... All in all you will have completed 6 miles of pretty impressive and delightfully scenic terrain.
For this run we attract many seasoned running club members and entrants have to be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • 6 classes: Men/Ladies 16 – 40, Men/Ladies 41 – 54, Veteran Men/Ladies 55 +.
  • Trophies for 1st in each class.
  • Medals for all.
